Lake Views, New Hardwood Floors, Great Community...Oh My!
1168 Lakefield Walk, Marietta, Georgia 30064 is a gorgeous ranch-style home with a tranquil lake view, updated appliances, new hardwood floors, and a stunning 2 story stone fireplace. We wondered what it was like living in this inviting home. Who better to share that with us than the people that call it home! Here is what they had to say:
One of the things that most attracted us to this house is the fabulous backyard. Our fenced-in back overlooks a tranquil lake. There are often ducks and geese on the lake in the spring and summer. We really enjoy grilling out there. It is incredibly peaceful and quiet to have no homes behind us. It provides a safe place for children to play and it often feels like we live in the middle of a park.
We love the contemporary stone front of our home. The wide front porch is welcoming and ideal for sitting out and waving to neighbors walking dogs or strolling by with children. We enjoy the lush landscaping and recently removed the pine straw and replaced it with higher quality mulch.
This may not sound exciting, but, in January 2016, we replaced all four toilets in the home with new high-efficiency KOHLER Toilets. We really appreciate the comfort of knowing our toilets will be worry-free for quite some time. We also replaced two of the four programmable thermostats so they are all the same high-rated Honeywell model. This was done to ensure that they all operate at their highest efficiency and cost-savings potential. We perform the recommended twice-a-year check-up service on our full HVAC system. We recently refilled the Freon in both units to ensure a very cool summer. This was our first summer in Atlanta and I was surprised at how cool the house stayed despite the intense heat outside. We appreciate that this home has two separate HVAC systems so we can better manage how the home's temperature. Most importantly, we value that the previous owners also took great care of the home before us. The home also features Sentricon Termite Systems; it is nice to know that our home is protected.
First Floor Features
The great room boasts a two-story stone stacked fireplace. We recently rebuilt the inside of the fireplace to extend the gas line and add a remote-control starter. We also added a custom-built glass door. It is incredibly easy to enjoy the warmth of the fireplace with these enhancements. This room is really where we spend most of our family time. The built-in bookcases hold board games, DVDs and other fun things for us to enjoy together.
The kitchen appliances were all upgraded just a few months ago to top-of-the-line stainless steel Whirlpool Gold and Bosch. This kitchen can turn anyone into a gourmet chef. There is plenty of counter and cabinet space and it has been incredibly easy to make holidays or host gatherings in this kitchen. The kitchen was recently repainted to a more contemporary color.
We recently removed older carpet and added Bruce's Hardwood Flooring to the master bedroom, second downstairs bedroom and "Jack and Jill" bath vanity area. This made a huge difference to the look and feel of the house and really updated the look of the downstairs.
Our master bedroom is very large and easily fits a queen or king bed. We just recently repainted the master bedroom and master bathroom to a contemporary color. The luxurious master bath is quite large. The frameless glass shower is the perfect way to refresh and start the day while the large soaking tub is the ideal setting to relax. The master bedroom closet has a ton of space and more than enough room for clothing and storage needs.
We really appreciate the "Jack and Jill" bedroom set-up in this house. For us, we use one room as a bedroom and the other as a playroom. The previous owners had a child in each room sharing the bathroom in between. The fourth bedroom is upstairs with its own full bath. We use this area as a private guest suite. Our visitors can retreat to their own space upstairs when they come to stay with us. The previous owner used this area as a bedroom for two children. There are lots of options for this fabulous space.
The home office is incredibly spacious and features a wall of built-in shelves and storage. Modern plantation shutters throughout the house provide privacy and charm. The sunroom overlooks the private backyard and the lake. You can watch the ducks on the lake from here or just keep an eye on any backyard fun. This is a really neat space that we have used as a living room area. This home is a real gem and it often feels like a peaceful oasis at the end of a crazy work day.
Like most homes in this community, this house does not have a basement. It does have plenty of storage, however. There is a very large shed in the back that remains completely dry and secure. There is also ample storage overhead in a custom-built rack in the garage. There is also storage in the attic by the HVAC systems. The closets are quite large in this home, as well.
These are so many great things about Lakefield Manor! We love that everyone waves and smiles as they drive or walk by. There are lots of children but also plenty of empty-nester families. There are two swimming pools including one with a zero-entry side and a mushroom water feature. The lakes are regularly stocked with fish for catch-and-release fishing. There are well-maintained trails through the community. The huge grassy area, called "Central Park", has fire pits and benches. The tennis courts are secure for community use only and they are well-lit for after-hours use. Regular community activities include yard sales, an Easter Egg Roll, Movie nights and more. Most importantly, this is a very warm community. Everyone is very welcoming and neighborly. The highly-regarded Cheatham Hill Elementary School is walking distance away. We have heard great things about Lovinggood Middle School and Hillgrove High School is nationally-ranked. We were drawn here because of the great reputation of the schools and the Lakefield Manor community. Neighbors tell us they will never leave - they love it here also!
About the Area
We are just a few minutes from many great restaurants in Marietta Square, including The Local and Taqueria Tsunami. There are many, many great restaurants within five or ten minutes away also including La Parilla for delicious Mexican. Shopping at The Avenues of West Cobb is very convenient also. You can find anything there from Gap and Loft to Hallmark and Yankee Candle. It's easy to run out for ice cream after dinner with several options nearby. This community is tucked away and serene but also incredibly convenient to everything including grocery stores, pharmacies and more.
On a weekend, we can be in Downtown Atlanta or Roswell in 25-30 minutes. Getting to the airport can take just 45 minutes if you time it well. Town Center Mall is nearby but high-end shopping at Avalon or Buckhead is not too far either. Stone Mountain and Kennesaw Mountain are also fun to explore.
