The City of Acworth Parks, Recreation and Community Resource Department is paying homage to Dr. Martin Luther King with its third annual Acworth MLK Day Celebration and 4th annual Day of Service on January 18, 2016.  In the spirit of MLK, you and yours can join the Acworth MLK Day of Service, and give back to your local Acworth community.  Acworth City Hall will host the Acworth MLK Day Celebration ceremony, which is to commence at 10:00 am.  Among the many presenters will be a participant  in the 1968 Civil Rights Movement.

After the Acworth MLK Day Celebration ceremony concludes, the Acworth Achievers Mentoring and After School Program will host the 5th Annual Day of Service.  There will also be a service project to aid the Acworth community. The project will consist of working on a service project at the Roberts School and Community Center, putting together and organizing care packets for the youth of Cobb County. The Acworth Achievers are collecting new underwear, socks, t-shirts, and other necessities that so many need.

“Acworth Achievers are the driving force behind youth outreach in the Acworth area. The Acworth Achievers mission is to provide middle and high school students educational assistance, consistent recreational activities, adult guidance and encouragement through mentorship to develop positive and more advantageous habits.”

Come join the future leaders of the Acworth community by dedicating your MLK Day as a day of service and community celebration at the third annual Acworth MLK Day Celebration!
