The home at 610 Owl Creek Drive Powder Springs GA is spacious and welcoming with a front porch and landscaped yard that invite you in. We wondered what it is like to live in such a wonderful home. Who better to tell us than the sellers, here is what they had to say:
The front yard is a more formal setting with flowering shade trees and shrubs set in a manicured lawn. Bulbs bloom over two seasons along with roses that continually bloom all summer. The front and backyards flow to each other through a jasmine covered arbor and series of terraced gardens filled with herbs and blueberry bushes. The back yard is a private, tree-covered labyrinth of orchard stone and mulch walkways linked by terraced walls that wind down to the creek that flows through it. Azaleas and camellias are the first color of spring and are shortly followed by colorful irises and daylilies. Hostas thrive on the paths along with numerous cultivars of hydrangeas. One terrace is a complete carpet of periwinkle blue blooms in the early spring. Drip irrigation waters much of the vegetation throughout. The entire landscape comes alive at night with uplift lighting.
We love the front porch and rocking chairs and the lapboard siding that give a farmhouse feel and say "welcome" to friends and neighbors. Recently painted, the exterior should be low maintenance for years to come. The backyard is more park-like with benches to stop and rest while listening to the ripples in the creek. Most of the landscape was developed through guidance of a formal landscaping plan by a local architect.
Both HVAC units were replaced with higher efficiency units over the last several years. To the attic was added an additional R-50+. Utility costs for heating and cooling make this an attractive feature. A new, on demand hot water tap in the kitchen provides instant water for brewing tea.
The first floor has several formal fireplaces that complement opportunities for hospitality or just an evening of reading. New quartz counter-tops in 3 bathrooms and new fixtures and lighting give an updated feel to the home.
The recreation room flooring is new along with plantation shutters. The entertainment center is custom made from solid black walnut and cherry planks featuring a place for a 55" TV. Basement lighting is updated to give a elegant feel to the space. We have built in a weather room in the event of strong storms. A sizable storage and shop area along with a full bath makes this area very useful for entertainment or playing games.
We are a neighborhood of walkers and runners, from early morning until dusk. It is a safe place to raise a family. The neighborhood is well-established and peaceful place to live and enjoy life.
We love the restaurants in The Avenue and love the calm that comes from enjoying our neighbors and neighborhood in Browns Farm. The Harrison school district has produced an excellent student body. We love to entertain and so we get a lot of use out off our dining and living room along with our rec room and downstairs den. If you have a green thumb or want to develop one, this landscape with give you plenty of opportunities to hone your skills.
