The home at 1085 Waterbury Close in Powder Springs is conveniently located to many Marietta amenities, including the famous Marietta Square with many excellent shopping and dining stops. The large and spacious basement is the perfect place for a play room or additional media center/den!
We wondered what it is like to live in such a wonderful home. Who better to tell us than the sellers; here is what they had to say:
My yard is a point of pride since I am an avid gardener. I've planted over 500 tulip and daffodil bulbs around my yard. Every year on Mother's Day, my daughter gives me packs and packs of zinnias and sunflowers to brighten the front yard bed running along my driveway. The front yard is small with lots of shade trees and flowers. The in-ground sprinklers really help keep everything watered and lush. My backyard is a naturalized area with a raised bed for vegetables, and I love watching for birds while sitting on my screened porch.
I love the side facing garage, big windows, and the color of the exterior brick. We've done some recent masonry upgrades on the front porch stairs, and the roof has been repaired and is in very good shape. I remember when I first saw my house and thought how beautiful it was! It is still as pretty as when we first moved here.
There are separate thermostats for upstairs and downstairs. We also had HVAC added in the basement to help control humidity.
FIRST & SECOND LEVELS:
My home is the perfect home for entertaining. I love that the foyer, formal dining room, family room and and kitchen all open and flow together in a great floorplan. We've had so many wonderful celebrations in our home. I also love that the upstairs floor plan features the master suite at one end of the hall, and the other two bedrooms on the other side. This set-up allows for the master suite to have privacy from the other rooms. The upstairs of the house is very private in general. I've had friends stay with me and say they felt like they had their own private retreat on "their" end of the house.
I love my huge, daylight basement. We added a full bath and kitchenette area and replaced the boat door with glass doors that lead out to the lower patio, which I use as my potting area. I also like that one room does not have windows. Once you close the door, it's a perfect place to watch movies or be safe from a storm. The basement is a spacious size that can be used for a lot of different activities as well as additional storage if needed.
Oakleigh is a beautiful, friendly, and convenient subdivision. My neighbors are wonderful. We enjoy visiting in each other's homes as well as taking trips or planning special events. We love walking around our cul-de-sac on the sidewalks! Everyone is friendly, kids are safe to play anywhere and everywhere, people walk their dogs on a daily basis, and everyone greets each other. We have an ALTA league and a very nice clubhouse, pool and tennis area. We also have a very active neighborhood association and everyone takes pride in the way their homes look. I also love that Oakleigh is conveniently located close to everything. Dallas Hwy has any store that you would need, and it’s located only 5 minutes from our house. I can get to Marietta Square in about 20 minutes with no traffic and downtown Powder Springs in about 10 minutes.
Oakleigh is close to everything, but it also feels hidden away. It's like we have our own little village, but you can get to Publix, Kroger, the dry cleaners and Lost Mountain Park in 5-10 minutes. I like eating at The Chicken and the Egg and Gabriel's on Whitlock (Dallas Hwy turns into Whitlock as you approach Marietta). I also love La Parilla and Waffle House in downtown Powder Springs. We are close to Atlanta and Marietta. Cobb County has great parks, libraries, churches and people. It's the perfect place to live in my opinion.
Lost Mountain Park is right around the corner. I go to the Senior Center there for weight lifting, movies and parties. My daughter plays on a tennis team that plays there. It's also a great place to walk, and my sister and I meet almost every day to walk on the Silver Comet trail. There are plenty of places to get on the trail in downtown Powder Springs, about 10 minutes away. There is a YMCA on Mars Hill Road (Lost Mountain turns into Mars Hill after you cross over Dallas Hwy) about 5-10 minutes away. You can also get to great shopping at The Avenues on Dallas Hwy in about 10-15 minutes as well as continuing on to Kennesaw National Battlefield Park. It is a great place to ride horses and hike or walk the trails to Kennesaw Mountain. The Marietta Square is about 20 minutes away and Atlanta is about 30-45 minutes away, so everything you could possibly want or need is fairly close.
